day´s fun and more! Open from March to October.
The grottos at Ponta da Piedade are well worth the visit. Go to
Lagos and along the front opposite and further down from the marina
you´ll find an A-frame advertising the boats. The fishermens´ boats
are moored here. The beauty of taking this trip on a fisherman´s boat is
that they take you right into many of the grottos to see the wonders
inside!

The village of
Alte
is a wonderfully preserved traditional Portuguese village in the hills above
Albufeira. The countryside around here is superb as well.
Up the mountain towards Monchique is Caldas de Monchique. Again,
well worth the visit. Brilliant craft shop for original gifts. The river
running through the village is bottled here and sold in many supermarkets. Cafe
has bread baked in the big old oven in the village square. A unique village
hidden away in the hills. |
